Ice and Snow…Take it Slow.

SAFE AROUND SNOWPLOWS

Distance — Give snowplows room to work. The plows are wide and can cross the centerline or shoulder. Don’t tailgate and try not to pass. If you must pass, take extreme caution and beware of the snow cloud.

Speed — Snowplows travel below the posted speed limit. Be patient. Ice and Snow…Take it Slow.

Vision — A snowplow operator’s field of vision is restricted. You may see them, but they don’t always see you. Keep your distance and watch for sudden stops or turns.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
Speed and Distance —The faster you’re going, the longer it will take to stop. When accelerating on snow or ice, take it slow to avoid slipping and sliding. Ice and Snow…Take it Slow.

Brake — Brake early, brake slowly, brake correctly, and never slam on the brakes. If you have anti-lock brakes, press the pedal down firmly and hold it. If you don’t have anti-lock brakes, gently pump the pedal. Either way, give yourself plenty of room to stop.

Control — When driving on ice and snow, do not use cruise control and avoid abrupt steering maneuvers. When merging into traffic, take it slow. Sudden movements can cause your vehicle to slide.

Vision — Be aware of what’s going on well ahead of you. Actions by other vehicles will alert you to problems more quickly, and give you that split-second of extra time to react safely.

By 9 a.m. EST today, the governors of Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois had declared states of emergency, with three to six inches of sleet and up to a foot and a half of snow anticipated for some areas. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon mobilized about 600 Missouri National Guard members to support local authorities with emergency route clearance, door-to-door safety visits, generator assistance and stranded-motorist support, Missouri Guard officials said. The Missouri Guard also has sent liaison officers to emergency operation centers in affected cities and counties.
Army Maj. Gen. Stephen Danner, Missouri's adjutant general, said that the Missouri Guard has dealt with similar situations before, and that he feels confident Guard members will get the job done again.
"The leadership and soldiers and airmen of the Missouri National Guard are seasoned professionals," Danner said. "We will apply lessons learned from years of experience to help the citizens of Missouri."
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is using the Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in Oklahoma City, Okla., for equipment staging, but National Guard officials said they don't anticipate this FEMA mission assignment will require Guard support.

General Polities:

A. FREE DELIVERY*

YOU WILL NEVER HEAR / SEE : " Normal text and message rates apply" on Motion Center

Motion Center does not and will not use any form of SMS feed technology because it is not in the best interest of users. All content on Motion Center is redistributed via Facebook and Twitter these are both FREE services for anyone who cares to sign up for these services and there are separate privacy policies and terms of service. Aren't your cell phone bills high enough?

B. FAST DELIVERY

Motion Center uses RSS (Real Simple Syndication): Feeds to deliver its own content and the content from government agencies. It is better, in the publisher's determination to get the audience the information that the audience needs immediately. There is no faster delivery possible then RSS from the server of the source of the data. It appears on the main page as it clears the server. To rewrite the content from a government agency and redistribute it, delays its delivery. So anyone who claims "Get it before anyone else." is wrong. All sources are identified and cited. This information is in addition to content produced locally.

C. SIMPLE DELIVERY

Signing up for emails / clubs or jumping through hoops to get Breaking News and Emergency Information. Don't you get enough email on a daily basis? And what happens if the breaking news ends up in the spam folder? If users want this service, please make you desire known, sending out sponsored messages in the form of email isn't what Motion Center is all about.

D. * "Free Defined" :

Motion Center is not a commercial website, nothing gets bought or sold there. The site is also not free. The site carries advertising and some of the services on the site are sponsored and there is an associated price for that service. By doing business with sponsors, who buy advertising, be it pay per click (National), Google advertising, or any other advertising someone is paying the publisher something to have these ads there, or there is an expectation of some type of payment. The advertising budget of each company is derived from sales by the company. So when you go to the store, or the website of a sponsor of the media you choose, in this case Motion Center, you are paying for the advertising in a very small way, but this website therefore is not completely free of charge. Something to think about.

E.  Newspaper Content:
Motion Center does not have anything against the Buffalo News, or any newspaper, at the same time, Motion Center does not have delivery of the paper at this time, nor does this website depend on the Buffalo News for any content. on this blog, associated blogs or this website.
