When Current Events Change and possibly change your life:
Canal Fest 2010 is underway and as some may have noticed the Tonawanda Transfer Station located on Niagara Street (Between McDonalds and HSBC Bank) is closed due to the rides being set up and part of the food court. So, how does the NFTA Communicate the route change? There was a short blurb on their website:
"The Canal Fest will commence Sunday, July 18, 2010 at approximately 12:00 noon on Niagara Street., between Seymour and Main Street, and on Young Street between Main and Delaware. Traffic will be diverted from the area of the Canal Fest beginning at approximately 1:00 PM on FRIDAY, July 16, thru Sunday, July 25, 2010. When Niagara Street is closed to traffic, 20-Elmwood, 25-Delaware, 56-River Road and 61-Express - North Tonawanda service and 200 North Tonawanda/Wheatfield Shuttle will be rerouted as follows:
20 “T” - Elmwood
INBOUND | Regular route to River Road and Niagara Continue Seymour, right Broad and regular route. |
OUTBOUND | Regular route to Broad and Seymour, left Seymour, right Goundry and continue regular route. |
20 “C” - Delaware
INBOUND | Leave Layover on Broad, left William, left Morgan, right Delaware and continue regular route. |
OUTBOUND | Regular route to Delaware and Broad, left Broad, layover at bus stop on Broad. |
Normally there are white and red RIDER ALERTS posted on affected routes. This was not the case this past week."
In short if you need to get into North Tonawanda, Mid City Plaza, Washington Street (DMV Office, Parole, or have business at the Niagara County Building) you need to stand on the Walgreen's side of Broad Street at Delaware
Map of Area in Detail:
Riders into and out of the Tonawandas should be standing at the posted bus stop at the driveway of Walgreens not at the actual corner. In most cases bus stops in the area are actually on street corners in this case, this does not apply.
A Special Thank you to the City of Tonawanda Police Department
and their Dayside Dispatchers for their assistance on this.
