CBP Officers at Detroit Metro Airport Seize 91 Pellets of Heroin from Internal Carrier



Detroit— U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport seized nearly 2.5 pounds of Heroin from a Nigerian citizen arriving from Frankfurt, Germany whose travel had begun in Nigeria.
Sherifat Lamidi, 32, arrived Sunday at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on board a Lufthansa Airlines flight and presented herself for inspection by CBP. She was designated for additional inspection and escorted into CBP’s secondary inspection area. While being interviewed by CBP officers Lamidi admitted to swallowing pellets containing narcotics but wasn’t sure of the contents or how many.
The seized heroin has an estimated street value of $125,000.
CBP officers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport seized nearly 2.5 pounds of Heroin that had been swallowed by a Nigerian citizen.
Lamidi was transported to a medical facility and under medical supervision finalized the expulsion of 91 pellets of suspected narcotics on Monday. The suspected narcotics tested positive for heroin and were seized. The seized heroin has an estimated street value of $125,000.
“Our officers are committed to the CBP mission of securing the nations borders,” said Donald Conroy, Port Director. “It is through the efforts of dedicated CBP officers that we were able to stop these drugs from reaching the streets.”
Lamidi was arrested by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations/Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for further investigation and prosecution has been accepted by the U.S. Attorney’s office.
