PRESS RELEASEFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEOctober 19, 2011
Mayor Pilozzi has announced that “Trick or Treating” will take place on Halloween, Monday, October 31st from 6-8 PM in the City of Tonawanda. Here are a few reminders for a safe and fun evening: Make sure flashlights are in working order and that costumes don’t interfere with walking (e.g. length of costumes, design of masks).
It might be a good idea to check those flashlights and costumes now because the day of Halloween can become hectic. Child should have a flashlight, glow stick, or some reflective tape on their costume so they are more visible to cars.
Plan your route and share it with your family. Set a time for their return home. Carry a cell phone if possible. Go with a group and stay together.
Only visit homes that have a porch light on and NEVER GO INSIDE A STRANGER’S HOUSE OR THEIR CAR. Walk on the sidewalks and cross only at corners. Don’t hide or cross the street between parked cars. Avoid walking through piles of leaves. Stay away from open fires and candles. Wait until you get home to eat the candy.
HAVE AN ADULT CHECK YOUR CANDY AND THROW AWAY ANY PIECES THAT ARE OPENED OR UNWRAPPED. Remember to say THANK YOU after receiving treats. Have a fun and safe Halloween!! Mayor Ronald J. Pilozzi City of Tonawanda
