Led by ICE Homeland Security Investigations, HSI, more than 800 federal and local law enforcement officers in southern California capped a three-year investigation with a massive takedown that targeted major methamphetamine and cocaine suppliers, distributors and buyers. They funneled drugs to some of the most violent street gangs based in Los Angeles, Long Beach and La Puente. Thursday's arrests came after a federal grand jury returned six indictments that named 61 defendants. 'Operation Red Rein' enlisted several law enforcement agencies including the California Highway Patrol; the sheriff's departments of Los Angeles and Riverside counties; and nine police departments including those in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Fontana and Montclair
